Tuesday, November 21, 2023 – The Azimio leaders are now reading from different scripts, regarding the ongoing bipartisan talks with the Kenya Kwanza government.
This is after Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua led Mount Kenya leaders in dismissing the bipartisan talks, terming them time-wasting and a diversion from the main issues pressing the country.
Karua and the team issued two irreducible demands, which they said must be included in the final report for them to support its contents.
According to Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, the issues of the high cost of living and Kenya Kwanza stopping interference with the former ruling party are non-negotiable.
“There is no need to talk about that document if it does not address the cost of living; if it does not address the invention of the Jubilee Party by UDA, what is the use of that document to us?
“We can continue managing ourselves the way we have done. In any case, Ruto never intended it for good; he has been wasting people’s time,” Kioni said.
Sentiments by Kioni were backed by former Laikipia governor Ndiritu Muriithi, who said they would quit the Bomas talks if the two issues were not addressed.
“We have no business in Bomas if those two basic minimums are not met, reduction in the cost of living and paying fidelity to the law in regard to political parties,” Nderiti said.
The leaders vowed to unite all leaders and speak in one voice, inviting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the Kamwene forum to champion Mount Kenya’s interests in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
