Friday March 17, 2023 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has threatened to sue President William Ruto over defamation claims.
According to Raila, he will be moving to court after Ruto claimed that he took part in the 1982 failed coup.
“I will be suing Ruto because the case was closed for lack of evidence against me,” Raila stated in a charged rally in Nakuru.
The Azimio leader noted that the Kenya Kwanza Coalition leaders had savagely attacked his reputation without adducing evidence.
“I was discharged from treason charges after the courts found out that there was no evidence linking me to the 1982 attempted coup.”
“Ruto has spoiled my name and I am going to sue him for defamation” Raila assured his supporters.
He stated that his reputation was under threat after President Ruto allegedly accused him of going against the constitution that guards all Kenyans.
On Wednesday, Ruto asked Raila to be true to his demands, noting that he was not genuine in his push for peaceful mass action since he is known to be destructive like he did in the 1982 attempted coup against then President Danie Moi.
On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noted that the Kenya Kwanza Government will deal with Raila once and for all.
However, Raila responded to Gachagua and stated that he was not afraid of anything, not even death.
