Thursday, March 10, 2022 – Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has told President Uhuru Kenyatta to retire peacefully after the August election, saying no one will miss him.

Speaking during an interview, Nyoro said that Uhuru’s administration has only managed to impoverish the residents from the Mt Kenya region.

“From where I come from, President Uhuru’s second term (handshake regime) has been doom and gloom in the region, from agriculture to the economy, prices of fertilizer, standards of life going down, the cost of living going up and that’s why we can’t wait for the president to depart,” Nyoro said.

The outspoken lawmaker opined that most Mt Kenya residents made their wealth during President Mwai Kibaki’s reign only for Uhuru’s regime to come and drain their wealth through punitive taxes.

“Majority of the people of Mt Kenya region made their wealth and money during the Kibaki regime, we actually miss him.

“I don’t think if there is any person in our region who will miss Uhuru, because we have nothing in the pocket and he has stalled our projects,” Nyoro added.

The Deputy President William Ruto’s close ally further alleged that President Uhuru’s administration has been deliberately targeting businesses owned by people from Mt Kenya in the name of fighting tax-cheating.

His sentiments come barely days after Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) closed down Naivasha-based brewing company (Keroche Breweries) over KSh332 million tax arrears accrued since February 2021.

Nyoro added that President Uhuru has failed in his role as the political kingpin of the central region, saying his failure has contributed to the rise of DP Ruto’s popularity in the region.
