Monday, March 14, 2022 – Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has opened up about what he discussed with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga before he agreed to endorse his presidential bid on Saturday.
Speaking on Monday, Kalonzo said they discussed a lot with Raila, but they didn’t discuss the running mate position as far as the discussion was concerned.
Kalonzo further dismissed reports that he kept Raila waiting on Saturday when Azimio la Umoja held its NDC.
“I was kept waiting for 6 hours, Raila arrived at 2 pm and we went to KICC, Nairobi, thereafter for his coronation as Azimio Presidential candidate,” he said.
“There was nothing like the six-hour protracted debate about anything because all these things had been agreed upon.
“We (OKA) insisted on structured dialogue and that is what we have been following up on… The name of the grand coalition is Azimio One Kenya,” he added.
Raila was named Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate in an event that was expected to commence at 9 am but ended up beginning at about 2 pm.
No reasons were given for the delay.
