Sunday, March 13, 2022 – Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is poised to garner at least 70% of Mt. Kenya votes.

This was revealed by Jubilee Vice Chairman, David Murathe, who claimed that this time around, Raila will get more votes from Mt Kenya than in his political backyard in Nyanza.

Speaking yesterday during the unveiling of Raila as the presidential candidate of the Azimio La Umoja in the August General Elections, Murathe said that he and other leaders from the Mt Kenya region will ensure they deliver over 70 per cent of the region’s votes to the former Prime Minister.

The Jubilee vice chair noted that unlike before when Deputy President William Ruto was the most popular presidential candidate in the region, the political tide has started changing and the ODM boss is emerging as the most popular candidate in the region.

“Mt Kenya will give Raila more votes than what he will get from Nyanza. Of the 8 million votes from Mt Kenya, if Raila gets 50 per cent, he will walk with 4 million votes. But I am sure Raila will get over 70 per cent of Mt Kenya votes.”

“When we started, Raila had zero support but now go to Mt Kenya, you will see that Ruto’s support is coming down while Raila is coming up. The latest indication has been in Meru, offices that were painted in UDA colours are not being painted in red or blue colours,” Murathe said.

Murathe praised Azimio la Umoja as a coalition of hope and vision to the people of Kenya. He said that the coalition is meant to unite the country.
