Friday, March 11, 2022 – Fresh details have emerged over why former Prime Minister Raila Odinga turned down Narc Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua as his running mate in August.
According to Cherangani Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny, Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed to name Martha Karua as Azimio La Umoja Movement‘s running mate to ensure women and Mt Kenya electorate are represented well in the next government.
However, Raila rejected Karua since she was ‘playing hard to get” according to Kutuny.
Karua was effectively struck out from the list of Raila Odinga’s preferred running mates ahead of the polls.
Kutuny made the comments on Friday when Karua, who is now a member of One Kenya Alliance(OKA), signed an agreement ahead of the August 9th Presidential election.’
Other OKA leaders who signed the agreement include Wiper Democratic Movement party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi, and former Lugari Member of Parliament, Cyrus Jirongo.
