Sunday, March 6, 2022 – Meru Senator Mithika Linturi was left in shock when a Bishop stopped him from attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner, Raila Odinga.

The visibly angry Bishop cut short Linturi’s speech when he veered off the church norms and started attacking Uhuru and Raila, reminding him that the church is not a place of politicking.

“As I mentioned earlier on, as a church we try to minister to people from different political parties without creating any sense of animosity, in a function like this which is in our church we try to maintain that attitude.”

“That everything else comes whether you are UDA, whether you are ODM, whether you Jubilee, you are welcome here and you need to feel comfortable here that no one is alienating you, no is saying negative things that will annoy anyone,” the Bishop stated.

Linturi, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, had to apologize before he could be allowed to finish his address.

“Am sorry these things sometimes can be emotional…Am sorry and I apologize to the church if I have gone beyond,” Linturi said.

In his speech that was considered inappropriate in the church surroundings, Linturi had accused Raila of being the source of electoral violence in Kenya by disputing presidential results each time he was defeated.
