Monday, March 14, 2022 – Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has officially joined Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking during a Kenya Kwanza rally at the Thika Stadium, Wamatangi declared that he had joined UDA following consultations with the people of Kiambu who advised him that the DP-led party was the party for the region

“I am not here to joy ride.”

“I am here because this is the place that I need to be.”

“I have talked with the women in the market, the youth in their jobs, and the men in their homes, and even with my own family and all of them have told me that from here, UDA is the party,” Wamatangi reiterated.

The Senator became the third Senate Majority Whip to leave the Jubilee Party over the last two years.

Last year, Wamatangi was elevated to the position after the removal of Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata.

Kang’ata had served in office for about seven months after succeeding Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who was ousted for associating with Deputy President William Ruto. All three politicians are now supporting the DP’s camp.
