Monday, March 14, 2022 – ODM Leader Raila Odinga is not guaranteed victory in the August 9th General Election even after endorsement by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kalonzo Musyoka, and several other political parties.
This was revealed by Jubilee Vice Chairman, David Murathe, who revealed that in the unlikely event that Deputy President William Ruto wins, Raila will have nothing left but to become official Opposition leader.
However, he said the Azimio la Umoja Movement team will stand by Raila Odinga even if he loses the August 9 presidential election.
According to Murathe, they will form a strong Opposition and be part of the government via Parliament if Raila loses.
“You can lose or win an election. If we lose, we’ll form a strong opposition (with Raila Odinga) and work from the Parliament,” he said.
Murathe defended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to support Raila Odinga citing incidents in the United States of America and other parts of the world where retiring presidents have supported Opposition leaders.
