Monday, March 14, 2022 – Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has denied claims that he joined Deputy President William Ruto because he lacked funds to finance his presidential campaign.
This is after his right-hand man claimed that the ANC leader is broke and cannot even campaign on his own and that’s why he decided to join Ruto.
Through a statement, Mudavadi’s Personal Secretary Kibisu Kabatesi, claimed that it is DP Ruto who joined Kenya Kwanza not the other way round.
“Mudavadi is the originator of KKC (Kenya Kwanza Coalition) which he invited the other partners to join (including Deputy President William Ruto). The notion that any partner joined the other is therefore erroneous.”
“Whereas UDA dreams of empowering those at the lower end of our economy, ANC proposes economic revival that will put extra more money into people’s pockets, while Ford Kenya champions for equity in access to development resources. The collective theme in KKC is a working economy for every Kenyan,” Kabastesi said.
Mudavadi’s ally and MP, Alfred Agoi, revealed that the ANC leader joined the Deputy President since he did not have the resources to face Raila Odinga and William Ruto.
Speaking in the Emuhaya Constituency on Tuesday, Agoi said the ANC’s initial strategy was to ensure that Mudavadi’s name would be on the ballot as a presidential candidate but they could not raise enough resources to sustain his presidential campaigns.
“He (Musalia Mudavai) did not have enough resources to sustain the presidential campaigns. We were disadvantaged since we did not have the resources to face Raila Odinga and William Ruto in the campaigns,” he said.
“The only option for us then was to join the deputy president and work with him,” the legislator said.
