Monday, March 14, 2022 – Deputy President William Ruto has received a turbo boost in his presidential bid after over 40 MCAs from Meru County joined his party, United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Announcing their arrival, DP Ruto welcomed the ‘yellow army’ to the ‘winning side’, exuding confidence that Kenya Kwanza Alliance will form the next government in August.

“More than 40 MCAs from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties have today decamped from Jubilee to join UDA.

Welcome to the side of the people and the growth of the economy from the bottom going up,” Ruto tweeted.

The mass defection comes days after 30 MCAs from Kiambu ditched Jubilee Party for UDA.

The MCAs led by Speaker Stephen Ndichu were received to the party at Ruto’s Karen residence on Saturday.

Ruto said the MCAs believe there should be a shift to building the country’s economy, hence the bottom-up approach.

Also, Embu County Senator, Njeru Ndwiga, has dumped the Jubilee Party and joined UDA.

Ndwiga was welcomed to the party by DP Ruto on Monday.
