Wednesday, March 9, 2022 – Narc Kenya Chairperson, Martha Karua, has blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government over the closure of Keroche Breweries in Naivasha.
Last week, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) closed the brewer over non-payment of tax amounting to Sh 323 million.
Karua, in defence of Keroche, wondered why KRA closed the firm yet last year during the merger of CBA and NIC banks, it waived the banks’ Sh 350 million in stamp duty tax.
President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s family owns CBA, which is currently known as NCBA bank.
Karua wondered why KRA is discriminating against Keroche and it gave Uhuru’s company a tax waiver of Sh 350 million
“On the @keroche_ltd issue all they are asking for is more time, not a waiver, yet we recall @KRACorporate@KRACare in unclear circumstances waived taxes for a financially performing entity during the process of merger, why this discrimination and hostility against @keroche_ltd,” Karua reacted on her Twitter page on Wednesday.
