Friday, March 18, 2022 – The Kikuyu Council of elders has finally opened up on their preferred presidential candidate between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto, ahead of the August 9th presidential election.

As things stand, Raila Odinga, who is using Azimio La Umoja Movement to endear himself to the masses, and Ruto, who is using Kenya Kwanza Alliance, are the front runners in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in August.

Speaking on Friday, the elders led by Former Nairobi mayor Dick Waweru, said they have looked at both candidates and they have settled on Raila Odinga as the best candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in August.

Waweru further said they will stand with President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was the first to endorse Raila Odinga since he saw he is more capable than Ruto and other presidential candidates.

He further stated that Uhuru’s decision represents the desires of the community and is aimed at ensuring the country is united.
