Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly summoned Jubilee Party Vice-chairman, David Murathe, over the mass defections from Jubilee Party to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the Mt Kenya region.
For the past one week, numerous top figures have deserted Uhuru’s party in favor of DP Ruto’s UDA.
However, the defection of Kiambu County Senator, Kimani Wamatangi from Jubilee Party to UDA on Saturday is said to have hit the President hard, forcing him to summon party officials led by Murathe.
The president also summoned the Majority Chief Whip in the National Assembly, Maoka Maore and nominated MP, Maina Kamanda, where he urged them to present him with a full report on why many members are joining UDA.
The President’s approach has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans online, with the majority blaming Uhuru for the defections and warning him to expect more.
