Monday, March 14, 2022 – Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, flew to the UK on Sunday, March 13th for a 5 day tour accompanied by several Azimio la Umoja leaders.

Raila left the Country hours after he was endorsed as Azimio la Umoja flag bearer for the August 9th General Elections and after more than 20 political parties signed a pact to support his candidature.

The ODM boss was accompanied by several leaders including the ODM deputy party leader and Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho.

Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth, who is being considered as Raila’s best presidential running mate accompanied him as well.

Others include Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu who recently offered herself to be Raila’s running mate, former Head of Public Service Sally Kosgei, and COTU boss Francis Atwoli.

In a statement to the press on Monday, March 14th, Raila’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, said during the five-day London trip, the former Prime Minister will sell his ideologies to Kenyans in diaspora.

He said on Tuesday, March 16th, Raila will address the international community at the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Royal Institute of International Affairs or Chatham House.

“At the Commonwealth Secretariat, Odinga will speak on ‘The road to peaceful elections in Kenya’, while his address at Chatham House will be on ‘Kenya’s 2022 elections: priorities for unity and policy change,’

“At the two events, Raila will share his vision for Kenya and Africa in an increasingly uncertain world, and will reflect on the political goal of unity presented by the Azimio la Umoja coalition movement,” Onyango said.

The ex-PM is also scheduled to hold other meetings with different leaders and groups.

He is expected to watch the Arsenal versus Liverpool Premier League Match on Wednesday, March 16th, before holding a meeting with Kenyans living in the UK on Thursday, March 17th.

This comes barely a week after Deputy President William Ruto concluded his 10 day-tour of the US and UK.
