Monday, March 14, 2022 – Kakamega County Senator, Cleophas Malala, has backtracked on his earlier remarks where he had said that Deputy President William Ruto must name Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi his running mate or they move out of Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Malala, who spoke on Saturday, warned that the DP’s slot is not a preserve of the Mt Kenya region.
But speaking on Monday after meeting Mt Kenya leaders, Malala said they will work together as all Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders and it would not matter who will be named as a running mate in August.
“The Mountain and Mulembe Nation will work together to deliver the 5th president of the Republic of Kenya. Privileged to have met leaders from the expansive Mt.kenya region for a candid tête a tête on the same.” Malala said.
Among those he met were Deputy President William Ruto, Embu Senator Peter Njeru Ndwiga, MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), John Njuguna Kawanjiku, among others.
