Friday, March 11, 2022 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto could be forced back to the drawing board after the One Kenya Alliance signed a coalition deal that ends the hopes of them joining either Azimio La Umoja Movement or Kenya Kwanza Alliance ahead of the August polls.
This is after the parties in OKA, which include Wiper, Narc Kenya, KANU, United Democratic Party, Farmers party, and the Movement for Democracy and Growth party declared a coalition deal.
The signing of the pre-election deal now paves way for the One Kenya Alliance to field one presidential candidate in the August 9 general elections.
The individual parties in OKA can however still join Azimio la Umoja or Kenya Kwanza with the Narc Kenya party leader confirming that OKA was a willing coalition.
“We will continue operating in openness, and will not tolerate opaqueness at all,” she said after signing the coalition deal alongside her co-principals, Gideon Moi, Cyrus Jirongo, Kalonzo Musyoka, Irungu Nyakera, and David Ochieng at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi.
