Tuesday, 01 February 2022 – Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has lashed out at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for allegedly tainting the image of his newly launched multi-million club in Shanzu dubbed Club Volume.
DCI had issued a statement claiming that a businessman had been robbed Ksh 596,000 by a lady he met at Sonko’s club after she drugged him.
Sonko said that the incident did not take place within his club’s premises.
He further alleged that the man was robbed only Ksh 17,000.
Here’s the full statement that he posted.
MALICIOUS PROPAGANDA AND COOKED UP NARRATIVES TO TARNISH THE GOOD INTERNATIONAL IMAGE OF VOLUME VIP CLUB.
Our attention has been drawn to a post published on the social media pages earlier today purporting that a client who was having fun at our club was spiked then robbed of money amounting to Ksh.596,000 and other valuables.
We would like to categorically state that the incident never happened within our premises but possibly happened after the said client and his culprits left the club. We have a trained, disciplined and reliable security team that consists of both men and women who thoroughly search and screen customers using modern gadgets before they’re allowed into the club.
The club is also installed with 24/7 surveillance cameras that help us monitor the security of all our customers around the club.
However, we’ve been able to obtain the Mpesa statement of the victim and it confirms the amount of money transferred from his Mpesa account by the lady after he willingly gave her the Mpesa pin was ksh.17,000 and not the figure quoted Ksh. 596,000 in social media.
After reviewing the CCTV footage, the victim has been able to identify the lady who afterward robbed her. The client who fell victim to the act has also confirmed that the incident never happened in our club but in Jomvu where he’d gone to have more fun with the lady who later invited fellow lady friends to the victim’s place.
Since the said client had already reported the matter at Jomvu police station vide OB No.38/30/01/2022 at 2325HRS, which is the jurisdiction of where the incident happened, we still did a further follow-up by advising him to also complain at Bamburi police station accompanied by our managers coz our club falls under the jurisdiction of Bamburi police station.
Whereas the club is liable for ensuring security for all customers, we always encourage personal responsibility in self-conduct and engagement within the club. We do not compromise our client’s choices to dictate on who they want to share joyful moments with.
Our security personnel always keeps an eye on everyone for safety purposes. We’ve previously had cases of clients who after realizing they were unable to handle themselves escorted to a safe room where their valuables were stored safely and handed to them later.
We also have standby limousines that offer free rides to our customers who can’t drive safely back home after a long night of sherehe.
We also have mobile clinics on standby in case of any emergency.
Going forward, we advise our clients to take caution with people they meet in the club and if things get steamy mnaeza malizia mambo Kwa parking lot where your safety is guaranteed coz of our tight security.
We have also begun construction of financially manageable rooms nearby where interested clients will be able to sleep with their newly acquired love mates and remain safe. This will ensure total safety and curb such eventualities in the future.
