Wednesday, 02 February 2022 – Five armed men attacked the parents of former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich in Uasin Gishu County on Monday night and ransacked the house for over 30 minutes while armed with crude weapons.
Three of them ransacked the house while two robbers kept guard while armed with a pistol.
According to reports, the robbers stole cash and mobile phones and then escaped after members of the public raised the alarm on hearing the commotion at the home.
Three of the gangsters were driving a Mercedes Benz while two of their colleagues were on a motorcycle.
A team of detectives managed to intercept the vehicle, Mercedes Benz registration number KCR 221L, which was used by the robbers.
It was intercepted along the Old Nairobi road in Eldoret after detectives got a tip-off.
The detectives arrested all the four occupants who have been identified as Cosmus Kemei, 28, Benson Okila, 37, Joseph Kipkurui Kosgei, 27, and Phanuel Maindu Tiriki, 36.
The officers also recovered an Austrian-made Glock Ges pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, five mobile phones, four black facemasks, two pairs of gloves, four jackets, two caps, a hut, balaclava, two hammers, a rope, and a machete.
