Thursday, February 3, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee purge has claimed more MPs associated with Deputy President William Ruto and his UDA Party.
In the latest changes in the National Assembly, Jubilee fired six rebel MPs just to make a statement.
In an announcement yesterday, Speaker Justin Muturi stated that the six have been discharged from their respective House committees.
The Ruto-allied MPs were sacked from their lucrative positions for being disloyal to Uhuru and the ruling Jubilee Party.
The six include Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru who has been discharged from the Departmental Committee on Livestock, William Kipkemoi, who has been discharged from Departmental Committee on Information and Katoo ole Metito discharged from Departmental Committee on Defence.
Others are Japheth Kareke Mbiuki, discharged from Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, David Gikaria, discharged from Departmental Committee on Energy, and Ali Wario, who has been discharged from the Select Committee on Regional Integration.
“I wish to report to the house that my office is in receipt of a letter dated 1st of February 2022 from a Majority Party Whip, notifying that the Jubilee Party has discharged the following members from the specified committees,” Muturi stated before revealing the names of those discharged.
Jubilee party has been taking action against lawmakers perceived as rebels and those opposed to the party’s ideologies.
