Tuesday, February 22, 2022 – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Presidential hopeful, Jimi Wanjigi, has said he will not surrender his guns after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) asked him to do so.
On Monday, the DCI asked Wanjigi to surrender 10 firearms and over 400 bullets he owns.
Wanjigi has until Wednesday to surrender a cache of firearms and bullets in his possession.
But addressing journalists at his Kwacha Group offices in Nairobi on Tuesday, Wanjigi said he will not surrender the guns and further accused DCI of abusing his office.
“DCI ordered me to surrender 10 guns and 480 bullets. They have been violating my fundamental rights and freedom.
“I will not surrender to this abuse of law enforcement agencies for political purposes,” Wanjigi said.
Wanjigi also said DCI boss, George Kinoti is being used by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to harass him for challenging him for the ODM presidential slot in August.
