Tuesday, February 8, 2022 – Deputy President William Ruto has told President Uhuru Kenyatta he is ready for a tough battle ahead of the August 9, elections.
This is after Uhuru announced that he will be making an entry into politics now that he has delivered on his manifesto that he was elected to implement.
Speaking in Likuyani on Tuesday where he is on a three-day charm offensive of the Western region, the DP said he is well prepared to face Uhuru and his project Raila Odinga at the ballot.
The DP defended his track record in government saying that he took part in every project that became a success in the Jubilee administration.
“The Jubilee government was a project between me and my friend President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“You cannot deny me credit for many projects that we have achieved together.
“Anybody imagining that they can deny me credit is wasting their time,” stated Ruto.
On Uhuru announcing his entry into politics, he said: “I am ready for that contest, bring it on”.
On campaigning from car tops, the DP said he has been in politics for years and he understands how government works.
“I have been in government long enough to understand that policies and theoretical works are done in offices but implemented on the ground that sometimes entails doing so from the car tops,” he said.
The remarks come a day after the President took on his deputy head-on, accusing him of abdicating his duties to focus on campaigns.
