Monday, February 14, 2022 – ODM Leader Raila Odinga yesterday met with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two discussed the need to strengthen ties between Kenya and India among other issues.
“Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness at being able to meet Raila Odinga after almost three and half years.”
“Prime Minister recollected his multiple interactions with Mr. Odinga since 2008 in both India and Kenya, as well as the latter’s support to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in 2009 and 2012.”
“The two leaders also discussed other issues of mutual interest. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to further strengthening India-Kenya relations,” a statement by India’s PM read.
On the other hand, Raila was over the moon over the warm reception he received in India and the subsequent discussions with Modi over the issues of mutual interest for Kenya and India.
“Delighted to have had warm discussions with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Our nations share a fond bond as many Kenyans have for decades attended universities here.”
“My hope is that we shall strengthen ties and learn more from each other in the years ahead,” Raila tweeted.
Raila is away in India to follow up on the treatment of his ailing eldest daughter, Rosemary Odinga.
While Baba is away, his competitor back home and Deputy President William Ruto is not relenting with his quest to be the next president as he is busy traversing the country in search of votes.
