Wednesday, January 26, 2022 – Former Kiambu County Governor, William Kabogo, has shelved his presidential bid in August and he will now contest for Kiambu gubernatorial seat.
In an exclusive interview with one of the local dailies on Tuesday, Kabogo who is also the Tujibebe Wakenya party leader said he has listened to the voice of the Kiambu County electorate and decided to shelve his presidential bid and instead support Deputy President William Ruto.
Kabogo’s Damascus moment has come three days after he attended the Amani National Congress(ANC) National Delegates conference at the Bomas of Kenya, where Musalia Mudavadi was endorsed as the party‘s flagbearer.
During the event, Mudavadi who was accompanied by Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula, pledged to work with Ruto ahead of the August 9th presidential election.
Kabogo is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in August.
