Friday, January 28, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s close handlers have differed with Mt Kenya Foundation MKF) members over the choice of former Prime minister Raila Odinga‘s running mate in August.

Both camps appear to have settled on Raila as the best man to lead the country after Uhuru, with the bone of contention now being who he should pick to deputise him come August.

MKF members want Peter Kenneth to be named as Raila Odinga’s running mate while Uhuru and his men want Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya.

However, Raila’s close aides proposed Laikipia governor Ndiritu Muriithi and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua as among those who should deputise the former premier in August.

“Most of the candidates going for the presidency including Raila, Kalonzo, Musalia, and Ruto, are risky for the country, Karua is the most suitable anti-risk factor.

“We are safe in the hands of Martha Karua as Deputy President,” one of Raila’s aides told a local daily.

Martha Karua has maintained that she must consult the Mt Kenya electorate before joining Raila Odinga.
