Sunday, January 23, 2022 – A section of Kikuyu community elders have endorsed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in August, saying he is the best-placed person to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Uhuru, 61, is going home in August after serving for two five-year terms.
Speaking on Saturday after meeting with Luo Community elders, Kikuyu elders Chairman Wachira Kago, said Raila must be President in August because he is the only credible presidential candidate who can unite Kenyans.
“Jakom will be the fifth president. We are confident of that, so we have begun to strengthen our relationship with you,” Kago told the Luo elders.
The elders who spoke in Ugenya were accompanied by Murang’a County Woman Representative, Sabina Chege.
Sabina in her speech said Odinga’s popularity has already skyrocketed in the Mount Kenya region due to the handshake and warm relationship between the two communities.
However, she urged the leaders and elders of the Luo community to ensure that they mobilise their people to register as voters to increase Raila Odinga’s chances of winning.
“The most important point is to register as a voter. Let’s help Baba get that guarantee within the next 15 days,” Sabina said.
