Monday, January 31, 2022 – ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi has disclosed night meetings that made him betray OKA co-principals, Gideon Moi and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking to the media after a church service at St Faith Parish, Rongai, yesterday, Mudavadi claimed that Kalonzo and Gideon had been holding secret engagements with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He also defended himself from allegations of double-dealing his partners in OKA – noting that he informed them of his decision to work with Deputy President William Ruto in good time.
“I want to state very clearly that we had broad consultations and we made our pronouncement at the NDC in broad daylight, not at night,” the ANC party leader declared.
Mudavadi noted that he decided to chart his own path after realizing that Moi and Kalonzo were inclined to Azimio la Umoja, which is led by the ODM Leader.
“The truth of the matter is that when we were engaging with some of the members of the OKA wing, we could see that some of them were leaning towards the state project.”
“We made it very clear that we were taking a different course. We did not betray anybody, our priority is to the Kenyan people,” he noted.
The ANC boss further noted that during his party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC), he was cautioned against backing Raila and his Azimio to which he obliged.
“When we stood there at NDC, ANC had told me very clearly that Azimio was not an option, that is a State project which the Kenyans did not want,” he revealed.
