Tuesday, June 2, 2020 – US envoy to Kenya, Ambassador Kyle McCarter, has spoken out after protesters camped outside his office in Nairobi on Tuesday morning to express their anger over the murder of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, by white cops.
The protesters waved placards carrying anti-racism messages and called for justice to be done.
Responding to the protests, Ambassador McCarter took to twitter to condemn the cops involved in the Floyd’s murder.
“I hear you. Whether virtually online or even standing peacefully in front of our embassy, I hear you.”
“The actions of the police officers in the killing of George Floyd were poor and must result to justice and accountability for those responsible.
“While no actions can bring Floyd back to his family, the officers involved have been arrested and both the Minnesota state and national judicial systems are in the midst of a full investigation,”
An independent autopsy ordered by George Floyd’s family has revealed that he was murdered by Minneapolis cop, Derek Chauvin, after a knee on his neck ’caused asphyxia that led to lack of blood flow to the brain.’
