Tuesday, June 2, 2020 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed that he is ‘very excited’ to have a grandson.
This is after his firstborn son, Jomo and his wife, Fiona Achola, welcomed a bouncing baby boy who has been named Uhuru Jnr.
The baby was born on Wednesday, May 27th, at Nairobi Hospital as we had reported last week.
While the family has been keen to keep the news under wraps, the President was recently caught by surprise when Nation Editorial Director, Mutuma Mathiu, congratulated him on the birth of his grandson.
“Mr President, I don’t know if it would be appropriate but maybe I should start by congratulating you on the latest good news from your family,” Mathiu said at the start of the interview.
To which a visibly surprised Uhuru responded:
“How do you know?”
“Mr. President, I’m a journalist it’s my business to know, I know you must be very happy.”
“I’m very excited and thank you very much,” Uhuru replied with a beaming smile on his face.
The President is now a grandfather for the second time.
Jomo and Fiona welcomed their first child, a baby girl, named Wanjiru after First Lady Margaret Kenyatta in November 2017, a few months after their lavish traditional wedding ceremony at the family’s rural home in Ichaweri village in Gatundu South, Kiambu County.
