Saturday, June 6, 2020 – A 38-year old man is in police custody in Kakamega after he hacked his boss to death for allegedly ‘snatching’ his wife and mother of their five children.
The suspect identified as Duncan Avaye, a resident of Milimani Estate in Kakamega Town, confronted Britain Mikhalo for eloping with his wife and hit him on the head with a blunt object on Friday, June 5th.
According to Kakamega Central OCPD David Kabena, Mikhalo died while receiving treatment at a local hospital.
“He was hit in the head with a blunt object at his home in Milimani. He died shortly after admission to hospital,” said Kabena.
The deceased operated a doughnut business in Kakamega Town and Avaye was one of his employees.
Neighbors revealed that the two were good friends, and enjoyed a cordial work relationship until early this year when they fell out after Mikhalo allegedly seduced and eloped with Avaye’s wife.
“The deceased and the suspect were good friends.”
“They, however, fell out after the deceased eloped with the suspect’s wife five months ago,” a neighbor by the name, Reuben Otiende, said.
Another neighbor advised men to stop messing around with people’s wives saying that this incident would have been avoided.
“I advise men, who want intimate relationships, to look for unmarried women.”
“This kind of death would have been averted had the deceased not snatched his friend’s partner,” the female neighbor asserted.
