Monday, June 15, 2020 – Former State House blogger, Dennis Itumbi, has revealed how Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho inflated a tender to buy police choppers by Sh 906.1 million.
In a report tabled by former Auditor General Edward Ouko in Parliament in 2018, the Interior Ministry inflated the cost of three new police helicopters that were acquired from AgustaWestland by nearly Sh1 billion.
Agusta Westland was blacklisted in China and India for offering Government officials kickbacks to purchase their planes.
According to Itumbi, Matiangi and Kibicho received kickbacks of an unknown amount from AgustaWestland to purchase the fake police choppers.
On top of that, they inflated the tender by Sh 906.1 million.

“Once it is back the link to the Audit report indicating @InteriorKE under @FredMatiangiand @Karanjakibicho inflated a tender of the #AgustaWestland choppers by Shs. 906.1m.”
“@DCI_Kenya is blind to such investigations and #RuarakaLand too. Ends,” Itumbi said.
