Friday June 19, 2020 – Deputy President William Ruto has finally made good his threat to dump the Jubilee Party for a new party.
On Thursday, Ruto gave the clearest indication that he has dumped Jubilee Party for Jubilee Asili.
The DP took to twitter and posted a new slogan – ‘Sote Pamoja’ (All of us together) – indicating that he had dumped ‘Tuko Pamoja’ (We are together).
‘Tuko Pamoja’ has been the Jubilee slogan which President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto used to rally Kenyans behind the Jubilee Party in the last election.
They used the slogan to symbolise the unity they were seeking to achieve especially after the 2007 post election violence.
Since the handshake on March 9th, 2018, Uhuru has been humiliating and embarrassing Ruto, a thing that has seen the DP dump the coalition for the new party.
Uhuru, who was helped by Ruto to win the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections, wants ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, to be his successor after his tenure expires in 2022.
