Wednesday June 3, 2020 – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, has termed Deputy President William Ruto’s lieutenants as a bunch of cowards after they attended a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting at State House on Tuesday.
The meeting was convened by President Uuhuru Kenyatta and over 212 Jubilee Party MPs attended the meeting which saw a number of Tanga Tanga MPs lose their seats.
Tanga Tanga is an amorphous group within Jubilee Party that supports Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.
It was expected that some MPs who owed allegiance to Ruto will not attend the meeting but all of them attended.
According to Sifuna, the mere act of Ruto’s men attending the meeting was a show of cowardice considering that they have been daring Uhuru.
Sifuna said that the President used the opportunity to give a dress down targeted at the perceived renegades.
“30 minute harangue. Seated and mute by 8 am. Thorough dress down for Tanga Tanga allied legislators. No one allowed to react to the presidential admonitions. MPs left without talking to each other. Kumbe these Tanga Tanga just bark at funerals and churches. No balls on any of them,” Sifuna said.
