Monday, June 8, 2020 – Renowned Kenyan scholar and columnist, Prof Makau Mutua, has revealed that Deputy President William Ruto is planning to drop his presidential bid in 2022 and instead support another strong and likable candidate.
Through a tweet on Sunday, Prof Makau, who is a Law Lecturer at Buffalo Law School in New York, said Ruto is likely to drop out of the 2022 presidential race and endorse Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, instead.
Mutua said Ruto’s nuclear idea is to lock out ODM leader, Raila Odinga, in case he decides to vie for the top seat.
“I am told that DP @WilliamsRuto will likely drop out of the presidential contest and endorse @MusaliaMudavadi for the top seat.”
“The idea is to lock out @RailaOdinga should he choose to run,” Mutua said.
However, netizens have accused the Professor of peddling a nefarious agenda and being a rumour-monger.
