Tuesday, June 16, 2020 – Kenya has recorded 133 new Covid19 cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,860.
Speaking during the daily briefing on the state of Covid19 in the country, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the new cases were from 3,255 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
“We have tested 3, 255 samples in the last 24 hours 133 people have tested positive.”
“This is a repeat of the number we got yesterday.”
“The cumulative number of tests we have conducted so far 121, 956,” said Kagwe.
The new cases are all Kenyans with 88 of those who tested positive being male, while 45 are female.
The CS attributes the trend of more men getting infected than women to behavior.
The new cases are distributed in the Counties as follows, Nairobi 86, Mombasa 27, Kiambu 7, Busia 5, while Kilifi, Kajiado Migori 2 cases each and Machakos and Muranga have a case each.
In Nairobi, the cases are distributed as follows;
Westlands (13), Makadara (9), Lang’ata (8), Embakasi East and Roysambu (5), Starehe (4), Embakasi South (10), Ruaraka, Embakasi Central, Dagoretti North had (3) cases each while Embakasi North, Embakasi West, Kasarani, Dagoretti South and Kibra had one case each.
The CS also announced the recovery of 40 Covid19 patients who have been discharged from various facilities across the country bringing total recoveries to 1,326.
On a sad note, one patient died, bringing the total number of Covid19 fatalities to 105.
