Wednesday, June 17, 2020 – Kenya has recorded 184 new Covid19 cases – the highest number recorded in a single day in the country since the first case in March.
This brings the number of confirmed positive cases in the country so far to 4,044.
Speaking during the daily briefing on the state of Covid19 in the country, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman said the new cases were from 2,518 samples tested over the last 24 hours.
Nairobi recorded 111 cases and they are distributed as follows; Westlands 33, Kibra 19, Langáta 18, Embakasi East 15, Dagoretti North 12, Kamukunji 4, Makadara 2, Starehe 2, Embakasi Central 2, Roysambu, Embakasi West and Kasarani all have one case each.
At the same time, Dr. Aman announced that 27 patients have been discharged bringing the total recoveries to 1,353 while two patients also succumbed to Covid-19 bringing the total number of fatalities to 107.
Dr. Aman urged Kenyans to be more vigilant than ever since experts have noted a spike in Covid19 cases in the country.
“We are now in the exponential phase…Transmission of the coronavirus within the community is rising…,”
“We must now more than ever strictly adhere to the containment measures given so as to flatten the curve,” he added.
