Wednesday, June 10, 2020 – Kenya has recorded the highest number of covid-19 recoveries in a day, after 175 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,048.
However, 105 new cases have been recorded bringing the number of confirmed covid-19 cases in the country to 3,094.
Speaking during the daily briefs on the state of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, Health CAS Rashid Aman, said that the latest numbers are out of the 2,273 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours.
96 of the new cases are Kenyans while 9 are foreigners.
The new cases are distributed as follows Nairobi 43, Busia 18, Mombasa 11, Turkana 7, Migori 6, Kwale and Kiambu 5 cases each, Kilifi, Machakos and Taita Taveta 3 cases each, Kisumu 2, Uasin Gishu, Siaya, Kajiado and Garissa recorded one case each.
A total of 102,696 tests have been conducted to date with the youngest new Covid-19 case being a two-year-old while the oldest is 77.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aman announced that the Government has rolled out home based care of Covid-19 patients who are asymptomatic to ease congestion in isolation facilities.
“Due to our rising numbers of Covid-19 cases, it is increasingly becoming untenable to isolate all patients in our health facilities for management and treatment.
“There are those who do not need specialized treatment.
“For them, home care will help in offloading and freeing up our health workers to deal with urgent cases,” Aman noted.
