Tuesday June 16, 2020 – Wiper Democratic Movement party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has said his party will allow Senators to vote independently in the impeachment motion against Kirinyaga County Governor, Anne Waiguru.

Speaking on Monday, Kalonzo said that the party will consider having a discussion within its ranks but will largely let the House make an informed decision based on the evidence by the Kirinyaga County Assembly.

“The procedure of impeaching a governor is known and we would want to allow the representatives to do their work.”

“If I start saying that we will oppose, then I will be disregarding the Senate,” Kalonzo said.

“The matter is currently before the Senate and it will be unfair to start discussing how the House will debate it,” Kalonzo added.

The Kirinyaga County Assembly voted to impeach Ms Waiguru last week, accusing her of gross violation of the Constitution by failing to deliver the annual State of the County address to the assembly, among other issues.
