Tuesday, June 2, 2020 – ODM leader, Raila Odinga, is on the receiving end from a section of Kenyans after he took to twitter to condemn the murder of an unarmed Black American man, George Lloyd, by a white cop in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
An independent autopsy ordered by George Floyd’s family has revealed that he was murdered by Minneapolis cop, Derek Chauvin, after a knee on his neck ’caused asphyxia that led to lack of blood flow to the brain.’
The incident has sparked deadly protests across the US with the Black community demanding for justice.
Raila took to twitter to condemn the incident and joined calls for end to systemic racism targeted at the black community and other minority groups across America.
“I join the thousands out there in saying a prayer for the family of George Floyd and, more importantly, for the US- a prayer that there be justice and freedom for all human beings who call America their country..” read part of his statement.
However, this did not go down well with Kenyans who accused him of turning a blind eye on the numerous innocent Kenyans who have been executed by Kenya police officers.
Some netizens shared photos of some of the Kenyan youths who have been killed by trigger happy cops and yet to find justice.
