Friday, June 5, 2020 – Commercial sex workers in Switzerland have been given the green light to resume business after they convinced the Government of ‘safe positions’
Switzerland is one of the few countries in the world where prostitution is legal with an estimated 20,000 registered sex workers.
However, brothels had been closed for months to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Now, the Health Ministry in Switzerland has allowed the business to resume after prostitutes vowed to put in place measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Among the measure put in place include, prostitutes to maintain a social distance of ‘forearm length’ with their clients.
The brothels shall remain open to avoid touching doors.
For services that shall be offered in the car, the client and the provider should ensure the vehicle is ventilated well.
The sex workers have also been prohibited from offering services with two or more customers.
The government also allowed strip clubs to reopen after the coronavirus lockdown.
“From 6 June, strip clubs may also reopen and services offered by sex workers may resume,” the Swiss Government announced.
Amusingly, popular contact sports like wrestling, dancing and judo are banned in Switzerland until July 6th.
