Wednesday, June 3, 2020 – Kenya has recorded the highest number of recoveries in a single day.
Speaking on Wednesday during the daily briefing on the Covid19 situation, Health CAS Rashid Aman announced that 54 patients have been discharged over the last 24 hours.
This brings the number of patients that have been discharged to 553.
“I am delighted to inform you that today, we have discharged 54 patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease,” Dr. Aman stated.
However, Dr. Aman also announced 123 more Covid-19 cases bringing the national tally to 2,216.
The new cases are distributed as follows, Nairobi 44, Mombasa 34, Busia 20, Kiambu three among others.
Three more people have also succumbed to the deadly virus taking the total fatalities to 74.
On the same breath, Dr. Aman warned that some Kenyans, especially the youth are flouting Covid19 guild lines.
“The curfew, restricted movement, and the ban on social gathering have not been relaxed yet we are beginning to see that people are flouting these rules,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, has revealed that the Government is planning to reopen the economy on June 6th by ending some of the restrictions introduced in March when the country registered the first case of Coronavirus.
In an interview with Radio Citizen on Tuesday, Kibicho said that the Government is mulling a phased re-opening of the country with new measures set to be announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday.
