Sunday June 14, 2020 – Deputy President William Ruto just launched his 2022 campaigns even as he continues to contend with the fact the President Uhuru Kenyatta may not be in his corner after all.
Ruto used footage that aired back in 2012 from an episode on the Churchill Show to share his plans for the 2022 elections.
He edited the video and only released a clip in which he speaks on key issues pertaining to elections in Kenya.
“My friend let me tell you.”
“My determination for this nation, for the coming election, is that we must bring this country together at whatever cost.”
“For your information, I have a lot of energy and I intend to dispense it,” he stated during the 2012 interview.
The Deputy President pointed out that his plans were still based on that foundation and nothing, not even President Uhuru Kenyatta or former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, can change it.
“This was in 2012, 9 years ago.”
“Am as persuaded now as was then,” he reiterated.
In the footage that he shared, the DP also hinted at his fight to bring an end to not only tribalism but the so-called dynasties as well.
“I can assure you that those who do not believe that this nation can do it, will be in for a shocker.”
“We are determined that you are not going to vote for a guy because of the village he comes from, or the spelling of his name or because of his height or religion but because of what he can do for a nation.”
“I am very confident that we are going to make that difference,” he stated during his interview.
His choice of words based on the current political scenario could be taken as his comeback, following weeks of headlines that have painted him out as a weakening force.
