Saturday June 20, 2020 – The fate of National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, now hangs in the balance after President Uhuru Kenyatta summoned Jubilee legislators for a Parliamentary Group meeting on Tuesday next week over his ouster.
The meeting comes days after President Uhuru received a petition signed by 130 MPs who are all seeking Duale’s removal from office.
According to reports, Uhuru will chair a virtual PG after four State House members contracted Covid-19.
“The purge is on.”
“The President has convened another PG and Duale will be kicked out.”
“He received the petition from the MPs expressing their lack of confidence in Duale.”
“We believe that he has gone through the petition and made a decision which will be communicated during the meeting,” a source revealed.
The Jubilee MPs will camp at Kenyatta International Conventional Center where Uhuru is expected to unveil new changes within Jubilee’s National Assembly administration.
Kieni MP, Kanini Kega, who rallied Jubilee MPs against Duale, revealed that President Uhuru will announce new leaders to fill in the vacant posts.
Earlier in the month, Kenyatta intervened to save Duale by cancelling a meeting set to discuss his future.
Speaking outside Parliamentary Buildings on Monday, June 8th, Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe announced that upon consultations with the party leadership, the matter was shelved in pursuant of more urgent business.
Duale survived the first National Assembly purge conducted on June 2nd and perceived rebels were warned that the whip-cracking by Kenyatta was not yet over.
