Saturday, June 27, 2020 – The Ministry of Health announced 278 new Covid19 cases on Saturday bringing the total number of recorded cases in the country to 5,811.
Speaking during the daily briefings on the state of Covid19 in the country, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said that the new cases were detected from 4,074 samples.
The new cases consist of 181 males and 97 females with the youngest being a year-old infant and the oldest aged 84.
On a sad note, Dr. Mwangangi revealed that four more Covid19 patients had succumbed, raising the death toll to 141.
However, the number of recoveries has increased to 1,936 after 31 more patients were discharged.
Nairobi leads with 171 cases followed by Mombasa with 37, Nakuru 17, Kiambu 12, Busia 10, Uasin Gishu 9, Kajiado 4, Migori 3, Kericho 2, Machakos 2, Nandi 2, Trans Nzoia 2, with Siaya Taita Taveta , Kwale, Kisumu, Makueni , Meru, and Vihiga recording one case each.
In Nairobi, the cases are distributed as follows: Lang’ ata 34, Dagoretti North 28, Makadara 17, Kibra 16, Embakasi East 11, Kasarani 10, Embakasi South 9, Kamukunji and Starehe 8 each, Embakasi West 6, Dagoretti South 6, Embakasi Central, Roysambu and Mathare 4 each, Ruaraka 3, Embakasi North 1.
In Mombasa, the positive cases were reported in Mvita 14, Nyali 6, Kisauni 5, Jomvu 5, Likoni 5 and Changamwe (2).
