Wednesday, June 24, 2020 – Kenya has recorded 254 new Covid19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 5,206.
Speaking during the daily briefs on the state of Covid19 in the country, Health CAS, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi stated that the new cases were detected from 4,859 samples.
All the positive cases are Kenyans, with 186 being males and 68 females.
The youngest is four years old and the oldest 92 years.
At the same time, 41 patients have been declared Coronavirus free, bringing the number of those who have recovered from the deadly virus to 1823.
On a sad note, the number of Covid19 deaths has risen to 130 after 2 more people were confirmed to have succumbed to the deadly virus.
The cases are distributed in the counties as follows: Nairobi 127, Mombasa 36, Migori 29, Kajiado 22, Kiambu 12, Busia 9, Uasin Gishu 5, Muranga 3, Machakos (2), Nakuru (1), Kakamega (1), Siaya (1), Taita Taveta (1) Garissa (1) and Isiolo (1).
In Nairobi County, Westlands had the highest cases with 32, Dagoretti North 18, Lang’ata 16, Embakasi East 12 and Kamukunji 14.
Mombasa cases were confirmed in Mvita (11), Jomvu (8), Kisauni and Likoni five cases each.
Kiambu cases were picked up in Thika and Kiambu Town, both with four cases each.
In Busia County, the cases were recorded in Teso South, 7, while Uasin Gishu county cases were confirmed in Ainabkoi (3) with Turbo and Kesses recording 1 case each.
Machakos cases were reported in Matungulu (1) and Athi River (1).
