Sunday, June 7, 2020 – Giraffe Manor, the posh and exclusive hotel in Karen, is under siege after it announced that that it is ‘opening its doors for Kenyans’

The hotel where guests get the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with giraffes had been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And with no tourists coming into the country, the hotel that is known to discriminate against locals (Kenyans and black people by extension), has now decided to open its doors to Kenyans to remain afloat.

This covert racism has sparked outrage among Kenyans with some narrating theirdiscriminatory experiences at the hotel due to policies which are seen to be disadvantageous to Africans.

Among those who have blasted the hotel is PR practitioner, Anyiko Owoko, who recounted how she once sought to have breakfast at the hotel and was informed of a policy that required them to pay up to Sh 60,000 ($600) for unnecessary add-ons like an airport transfer, car and chauffeur.
