Monday June 15, 2020 – A number of Government officials working in State House, Nairobi, have been isolated at Mbagathi Hospital, Nairobi, after testing positive for Covid19.
Another 10 staff whose results were inconclusive will be undergoing additional testing before they can be allowed outside their residences.
Targeted mass testing was carried out in State House last Wednesday and Thursday with the results being received on Saturday.
As a result, no staffer is being allowed to access the areas near the offices of President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
Sources said that the results came as a surprise due to the protocols employed by the President’s official residence.
Another source said that the President may start working from his home in Gatundu for fear that he may contract the virus.
National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, went for a test on Sunday after receiving news that most State House employees have coronavirus.
The AU envoy, who tested negative, urged Kenyans to get tested as they continue to adhere to Government guidelines, which include practising social distancing while in public places and sanitising.
Raila Odinga went for the test because he has been in contact with Uhuru.
