Thursday, June 4, 2020 – HealthDirector General, Dr. Patrick Amoth, has moved to allay fears among Kenyans worried that the covid-19 can be spread through a swimming pool.
This is after a concerned Kenyan asked Dr. Amoth if this is possible during his #AsktheDG session on twitter.
@DrPatrickAmoth #AskTheDG Can the virus that causes Covid19 spread through swimming pool?” asked @TotMercy.
In response, Dr Amoth stated that one is unlikely to contract the deadly virus while swimming since the main route of contracting Covid19 is through droplets from a person carrying the virus.
The disease can be spread through sneezing or coughing by an infected person according to the World Health Organization (WHO)
The virus is transferred from the infected person to a person next to them through tiny droplets hence the Government insisting on people wearing face masks in public places and practising physical and social distancing.
So far, Kenya has a total of 2,340 confirmed Covid19 cases with 78 fatalities and 532 recoveries.
