Thursday, June 18, 2020 – Kenya could be inching closer to the Covid19 peak after recording 213 new positive cases and 10 fatalities.
This brings the number of confirmed Covid19 cases in the country to 4,257 and number of fatalities to 117.
This is the highest number of both new cases and fatalities recorded within 24 hours since the disease was first reported in the country in March.
Speaking during the daily briefing on the state of Covid19 in the country, Health CAS Dr.Rashid Aman said the new cases were out of 6,024 samples tested.
Out of the 213 new cases, 198 are Kenyans and 15 are foreign nationals.
152 are males and 62 are females with the youngest being a 1 year-old and the oldest 73-years old.
The cases are distributed as follows, Nairobi 136, Mombasa 32, Kajiado 13, Busia 5, Nakuru 4, Machakos 4, Garissa 3, Isiolo 3, Taita 2, Kitui 2, Migori, Narok and Embu one case each.
The 136 cases in Nairobi come from Dagoretti North 36, Westlands 25, Kamukunji 17, Kibra 130, Makadara 11, Starehe 8, Langata 9, Kasarani 6, Embakasi East 4, Embakasi North 3, Ruaraka 3 and Embakasi Central 1.
In Mombasa, the 32 cases are distributed in Mvita 20, Likono 5, Kisauni 5 and Changamwe 2.
On the bright side, 106 people have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 1459.
