Thursday June 4, 2020 – The management of Fairmount Hotels has halted its decision to fire all employees after the Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened.
Last week, the Fairmount Hotels management announced that it had closed its doors indefinitely.
A memo from the Hotel’s management, said it had not been able to pay salaries to employees following the effects of Covid-19 in the country.
But President Uhuru Kenyatta sent Solicitor General Ken Ogeto to talk with the hotel’s management and see how the workers can be retained.
On Thursday, the hotel announced that it had rescinded its decision to fire all employees to allow room for consultations with other stakeholders.
Uhuru is said to have warned the hotel of dire consequences should they fire employees because of Covid -19.
Some hotels have also fired employees and according to Ogeto, all the hotels that have fired employees are on the Government’s radar.
